One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to buy a cheap float and read in the pool for hours or to find the perfect spot on the beach and drift off into whatever book I have in hand. This year, Pearce and I are trying out Audible so I’ve already purchased my summer-must-reads and can’t wait to listen to them! Have y’all tried Audible? It’s SO easy and your first 30 days are free! I saved up my “credits” for the past few months and didn’t have to pay for any of my summer reads. It’s around $15.00 a month and you get a free credit each month to buy a book + a huge discount on other audiobooks you download. Perfect for the gal on the go! I should mention that this is in no way a sponsored post, I’m just really excited about the service! 🙂
update: – i’ll also be reading, Wild and Free by Jess Connolly and Hayley Morgan, the paperback version!
I Said Yes – “In I Said Yes, Emily Maynard tells the story of her life before and after reality TV fame, describing the profound new reality she discovered when she forsook fame in favor of the Lord. At the end of a long, fruitless search for a man, this courageous young woman found the truest love of all waiting right in front of her. To that love, Emily said yes.”
Me Before You – “A Love Story for this generation and perfect for fans of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars, Me Before You brings to life two people who couldn’t have less in common—a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?”
The Fringe Hours – “In this practical and liberating book, Jessica Turner empowers women to take back pockets of time they already have in their day in order to practice self-care and do the things they love. Turner uses her own experiences and those of women across the country to teach readers how to balance their many responsibilities while still taking time to invest in themselves. She also addresses barriers to this lifestyle, such as comparison and guilt, and demonstrates how eliminating these feelings and making changes to one’s schedule will make the reader a better wife, mother, and friend. Perfect for any woman who is doing everything for everyone—except herself.”
My Southern Journey – “From the celebrated bestselling author of All Over but the Shoutin’ and winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Rick Bragg, comes a poignant and wryly funny collection of essays on life in the south. Keenly observed and written with his insightful and deadpan sense of humor, he explores enduring Southern truths about home, place, spirit, table, and the regions’ varied geographies, including his native Alabama, Cajun country, and the Gulf Coast. Everything is explored, from regional obsessions from college football and fishing, to mayonnaise and spoonbread, to the simple beauty of a fish on the hook. Collected from over a decade of his writing, with many never-before-published essays written specifically for this edition, My Southern Journey is an entertaining and engaging read, especially for Southerners (or feel Southern at heart) and anyone who appreciates great writing.”
The Wedding – “After thirty years of marriage, Wilson Lewis, son-in-law of Allie and Noah Calhoun (of The Notebook), is forced to admit that the romance has gone out of his marriage. Desperate to win back his wife, Jane’s, heart, he must figure out how to make her fall in love with him… again. Despite the shining example of Allie and Noah’s marriage, Wilson is himself a man unable to easily express his emotions. A successful estate attorney, he has provided well for his family, but now, with his daughter’s upcoming wedding, he is forced to face the fact that he and Jane have grown apart and he wonders if she even loves him anymore. Wilson is sure of one thing – his love for his wife has only deepened and intensified over the years. Now, with the memories of his in-laws’ magnificent fifty-year love affair as his guide, Wilson struggles to find his way back into the heart of the woman he adores.”
Now I need to know, what are y’all reading this summer?!
