I feel like I have a lot less time on my hands these days. Partly because I’m working more and have a lot of big projects wrapping up / partly because I now have a toddler! It’s true what they say, once babies start walking everything changes! Alba Grace was slow to walk but as soon as she was ready she took off and hasn’t slowed down since. I feel like a lot of strangers and sometimes friends have been quick to share how things are going to get harder but slow to share just how sweet this season is. Now that we’re in the thick of it, I totally get where they’re coming from but I want to share the good stuff with y’all because it’s well worth highlighting. Trust me, it far outweighs the challenges and learning curves.
So here’s what I love about life with a toddler…
They’re into everything! A blessing and a curse, depending on how you look at it of course! Alba Grace is curious about everything and never stops exploring. This makes EVERYTHING more exciting. From simple trips to the playground to big holiday festivities, she’s so much more engaged in what we’re doing. It’s been an absolute joy to watch her soak up all that life has to offer. Her enthusiasm makes simple things like putting together a puzzle or taking a trip to the grocery store so much more exciting for us as parents. She is teaching us how to enjoy the little things right now which is a lesson we need right now!
They are always learning! Recently Alba Grace learned to count to three, last month she learned “Jesus Loves Me” and to show us where her nose is! Not a day goes by that I’m not telling someone about her new tricks and how I actually think she’s a baby genius. I know I’m not the only toddler mama that thinks that! Ha! 😉
They start to make friends. I love any excuse to meet up with baby friends these days! It’s so stinkin’ cute to watch AG interact with people her own age.
They’re hilarious. Toddlers are the funniest little people! They run around laughing, giggling and doing hilarious things…. all day long! Laughter is the best medicine and we get plenty of it around here!
They think you’re cool. Alba Grace is my little bestie right now. She follows me and Pearce around the house, brings toys to us so that we can play together and runs up to hug us now! Feeling loved by a toddler is just about as good as it gets! So much sweetness. I realize that Alba Grace won’t always think I’m cool, so I’m taking advantage of it while I can!
I can already feel the toddler days flying by so I’m doing my best to slow down and take in all of the goodness that this season brings!
