It turns out our favorite weekend getaway destination isn’t a fancy big city or a tropical beach… but a tiny Southern town just 2.5 hours away! Ever since our first trip together to Beaufort, SC Pearce and I have been hooked! We took Alba Grace for the first time when she was three months old (along with our friends Catie & David!) and couldn’t wait to get her back to Beaufort when she was old enough to actually enjoy it.
Other than providing a cute backdrop for a little mommy & me photoshoot… the bed & breakfast we stayed at ended up being a total let down. First and foremost, there was only ONE K-cup provided for the Keurig. Which was a real tragedy! ๐ Kidding…. kind of. The AC was out, AG screamed for hours surely keeping up the other guests at the b&b and to top it all off… the place was just plain creepy! And did I mention AG slept in a strange closet and Pearce and I slept on a trundle bed?! Not at all what we were picturing but it’ll make for a good story one day! Please learn from our mistake and read all of the reviews when you stay at a b&b! Or anywhere for that matter! We were in such a hurry booking it (and the cover photo of the beautiful house drew us in!) so we didn’t take the time to see what everyone else had to say.

We arrived Sunday morning just in time to worship at a local church. After church we explored our favorite neighborhood ever, Habersham! After drooling over the porches we grabbed burgers at Fat Patties! I was proud of myself for venturing off of the “recommended” toppings menu and creating my own concoction. Pepper jelly, goat cheese, and grass fed beef y’all! It was so good! After the yummiest burgers (and AG’s messiest restaurant experience yet!) we did a bit more exploring and then drove downtown for ice cream (AG was a big fan!) and a walk along the waterfront park.
Alba Grace is rocking the Grace & James summer sadie set, use code MCKENZIEF5 for $5 off at checkout!
We checked in to our b&b early so that we could walk over to Captain Woody’s Seafood for dinner. Pearce had the yummiest trigger fish sandwich (he always orders the best dish!) and I had fish tacos. I love all of the fun restaurants in shopping in downtown Bluffton! It’s such a neat area to explore!
Sunday morning we woke up early (mostly because all had a terrible night’s sleep!), found the nearest chickfila for breakfast and drove back into Beaufort for the day! ๐
Our last trip before the summer ends was definitely a good one! Love being able to travel (no matter how far!) and make memories with my little fam.
