Over the weekend the Fussell four took a trip out west (and by out West I mean two hours southeast…) to Apalachicola, FL! It’s a sweet little fishing town, home to hundreds of historic sites, yummy restaurants, and sweet shops! We were hosted by The Coombs Inn which is in the perfect central location for lots of exploring! One of our favorite things about the Inn was how walkable the area was! From the Inn, we could easily access many of the stops on our historical tour, tons of dining options, and the bayfront strip!
A few of our must-do’s:
Breakfast at Cafe Con Leche – the veggie quiche and signature cortada were delish!
Lunch at The Station Raw Bar – a fun atmosphere with yummy oysters!
Dinner at The Owl Cafe – I can’t recall what Pearce ordered because I’m too busy dreaming about the fish tacos!
Dessert at Apalachicola Chocolate & Coffee Co. – all around awesome! fab spot for breakfast too!
Drinks at Oyster City Brewing – not exaggerating when I say I loved everything I tried. and everyone working there was so so kind! a highlight of our trip!
Visit Lafayette Park – traveling with toddlers essential: good playgrounds! this was also a good spot to check out some beautiful historic homes and take a long walk down the dock!
Explore St. George Island – another fun beach town just down the road from Apalachicola with breathtaking views! and a lighthouse for all of you lighthouse lovers!
Stop in Carabelle – we had lunch and shopped around Carabelle before our trip home. a sweet old coastal town with a whole lotta charm!
Stay at the Coombs Inn – we loved the location, spacious room and old house charm of this inn! bonus points for having an awesome porch we could rock on while the babies napped AND a clawfoot tub to soak in!
Apalachicola is a fun spot to lay low and slow down for a while! The perfect home base to explore Florida’s forgotten coast!
