Oh my lanta, the food. You know it was a good vacation if you came home and discovered your pants are WAY too snug, amen?! Charleston has the tastiest cuisine. SOOOO many (probably too many) options, but it’s all. so. good.
Favorite Lunch + Dinner Spots //
The Darling Oyster Bar – My favorite restaurant we tried! I’m not sure if it was the food or the decor but either way, we’ll be going back again every time we’re in CHS! Try the house oysters and the paloma.
Virginia’s On King – Virginia’s was Pearce’s favorite restaurant we tried. He ordered the stuffed trout and has been talking about it ever since we left. I haven’t made any fish for dinner since then because I know I can’t compete. I enjoyed my Chicken & Dumplins but let’s just say they weren’t my Nana’s! Take away – always order what Pearce orders because his is always better.
Leon’s Oyster Bar – Leon’s is a must in the Holy City. Of course, I had oysters (yes, I had oysters almost everywhere we went!) But we also split the grilled quail, to die for!
Taco Boy – I can’t go too long without good Mexican! Taco Boy was recommended by many, so we gave it a shot and it did not disappoint!
The Obstinate Daughter – The OD is located on Sullivan’s Island and definitely worth the drive from wherever you’re staying. Try the frogmore chowder, pizza, or lowcountry shrimp roll.
Boone Hall Market – So, full disclosure, BHM is a tiny cafe inside of the Boone Hall Market (which is where we hid when the rain came down on Boone Hall.) Probably not somewhere you’d read about on a travel blog. I however, believe it’s worth mentioning. If you ever visit Boone Hall, be sure to drive down the street and hit up the market. The bbq was on point.

Callie’s Hot Little Biscuits – Another Charleston must! I’m a sucker for a good biscuit. Pro tip – get in as early as you possible can. We tried to get in one morning but unfortunately the wait was over an hour! The shop is about the size of our guest room, so you’ll be waiting on the streets. On our last morning in CHS we tried again, showing up right after they opened and only had to wait about 30 min. Well worth the wait.
The Daily – Super hip coffee shop with fresh baked pastries, delish donuts, and grab-and-go snacks.
Black Tap Coffee – Black Tap is another hip coffee joint in the heart of Chucktown. The breakfast pastries and quiches are as tasty as can be! Grab a cup to go and wander around Charleston’s jaw-dropping streets or curl up inside with a good book. Loved this charming spot!
Kaminsky’s Dessert Bar – Dessert bar. Need I say more?! Maybe skip dinner one night and make a reservation here instead. DELICIOUS.
Vintage Coffee & Cafe – Vintage wasn’t on our original itinerary but when we needed an early morning oil change in Mt. Pleasant, we stumbled upon this gem. The breakfast menu was on point, the coffee was fantastic, and the aesthetic was right up my alley. Try the open omelette!
