If you’re not following along on Instagram and haven’t heard from me in a bit…. HI! WE MOVED AGAIN. I’m not counting anymore so don’t ask! ๐
It felt right to put the girls spaces first after putting them through yet another move and reno! So the first “finished” room in this house is the playroom! We adored our last playroom space and wish we could have brought that entire room over here with us. Thankfully there’s a new little girl enjoying that room now and we are on to new things. We chose Hockney Moss drapes in our last playroom and decided to use the same pattern in a different colorway as a fun nod to that special playroom! I’m a blue girl and this felt right. Naturally we took things to the extremes and chose to pull the drapery pattern onto the ceiling and artboard as well! No regrets because I’m obsessed with how it all turned out!
I promised details so here we go!!!!!
Paint Color: BM Blue Porcelain. I used the same finish (high gloss) on the walls and trim! I wanted a full on “dipped” drenched look. Got it. We used this same color in our last bedroom and on the cabinets in this house a few years back!
Drapes: We chose the pinch pleat construction in the Hockney Sky pattern. Added our favorite cream tassel as well! Just can’t say no.
Drapery Hardware: I had a vision for a lucite rod but couldn’t find one that worked for our measurements so we went with a tried and true favorite, the Ballard french return rod and coordinating rings! Brass finish forever.
Wallpaper: Do as I say not as I do. Hire a pro to install if you’re hanging on a ceiling! It will be SO WORTH it in the end. I love this pattern so much. Do note that it’s untrimmed and unpasted. Here’s the link!
Artboard: I used an old pinboard (purchased at HomeGoods – sorry!) and covered it in this Hockney Sky fabric!
Light: A last minute change of plans led us to purchase this oversized pleated pendant! Currently out of stock but I’ve seen it pop up on Ebay!!!
Rug: We repurposed our old master bedroom rug. The colors worked so well in here! It’s plush enough for play but also hides just about any stain.
Door Hardware: I purchased these on Amazon and used Antique Gold Rub N’ Buff to jazz them up a bit. They remind me of our old house and I LOVE THAT.
Switchplate Covers: A fun find from Anthro that comes in a ton of colors. Little details like this make a space so much more interesting!
Toy Storage / Systems: I feel like we need an entirely separate post for this! Our favorites (pictured here) are these baskets and these IKEA bins! The bins are stored in this shelf and swapped with bins in the closet (more on our toy rotation system later!) so the girls don’t have access to everything all at once. If you’re on the fence about the IKEA shelf for toy storage go for it! It’s so much nicer than any target or walmart option (get the high gloss!) and holds up well. We’ve had so many variations of this shelf over the years and couldn’t recommend it enough! The bin labels are these with Fernandina Paper Co. inserts of course! ๐
Play Table & Chairs: We purchased this Pottery Barn Kids table off of fb marketplace years ago and it’s held up perfectly. Paired it with these Serena and Lily kids chairs that match our dining chairs! ๐ Tiny versions of big people things make me happy.
Toys: I’ll link what I can here! Sadly the kitchen is no longer being made! Dollhouse, baby carriage (great baby gift! AG learned to walk with this!) , high chair! I’m loving the baby doll stage! ๐
Art: The framed prints over the table are by Lulie Wallace, Riley Sheehey and Elizabeth Wade. The boy and girl prayer needlepoints are antique finds.
