One of my favorite things about the South is the spirit of community over competition. Most folks are willing to support locals in their endeavors and that sense of community is something we should all be mighty proud of. Today I want to use this little web space of mine to share with y’all 6 ridiculously talented artists I know you’ll swoon over! Now can someone lend me their wallet so I can get to work on my gallery wall?! 😉
BLAKELY LITTLE
Blakely takes the cake for my favorite coastal artist. She’s a Charleston based painter with a focus on the lowcountry, marshlands, and gorgeous waterways. She shares that her painting style is always evolving but she’ll never stop using bright colors. Good thing, because her color choices are stunning! Her original pieces go quick (and I mean it, y’all!) but she takes collaborations year round. Find out more about blakely here and follow along on Instagram here.
C. BROOKE RING
Brooke is a painter (and blogger!) based in Greenville, SC. Her work is majorly influenced by her faith and good ole’ southern hospitality. Her work focuses on four subjects – ballerinas & figures, florals, coastals, and ram’s skulls. She explains, the figures and ballerinas are a reminder of the beauty of innocence, the coastals represent joyful memories, and the ram’s skulls are a testament of the Lord’s daily provision, referencing the Biblical Old Testament story of Abraham and Isaac. Find more of Brooke’s work here and be sure to follow along on instagram!
KATIE CRAIG
Pearce and I recently acquired one of Katie’s gorgeous pieces (see above) that we can’t wait to hang in our new dining room. I discovered Katie through Minted and almost immediately started drooling (okay not really but…) over her abstract work. Thankfully she also has a line of textiles so we’ll be able to include her work in other rooms around the house. Katie’s a Dallas based artist who’s work captures what she calls, the intriguing collision of color palette and motion through brush strokes and texture. JULIA RYAN
I’m sure many of you know Julia Ryan from her popular blog, Pawleys Island Posh. But did you know she’s also a talented painter? Her lowcounty marsh paintings are my favorite! She’s currently based in Richmond, VA but most of her work is inspired by the time she spent living in the coastal carolinas. View more of Julia’s work here and be sure to follow along with her on Instagram here.
BRITT BASS TURNER
Britt is an Atlanta based artist with an apparent love for color and texture. Her work has found it’s way into many homes around the world as well as onto the pages of many large magazines, both online and print. Britt recently partnered with Marine Layer to offer her bold patterns on short, crop tops, and this adorable shift! Follow along with Britt on Instagram here and be sure to view more of her work here. Ps. How cute are her iPhone cases?!
ANNA VAUGHN CREECH
Anna’s a North Carolina based artist and the founder of Aviation Studio. Her aesthetic is very much inspired by the coast and her foreign travels. I discovered Anna through one of my favorite boutiques, Beaufort Linen Co. Her bright and watery paintings can be found in boutiques across North Carolina and online in her studio.
