Hey, hey! Let me start out by apologizing for the radio silence here on the blog over the last month. My poor laptop was in and out of the shop and I finally replaced it this week. So it’s safe to say we’ve got some catching up to do! Pop back by each morning this week and I’ll be sure to have some fun content for you!
I’ve decided to mix things up and change the format of the monthly Porch Talk series. Instead of random babbling (hope you won’t miss this too much!) I’ll be answering some of the questions I get throughout the month. I get so many direct messages on instagram with questions that I thought might be interesting to share here. So ask away on insta, shoot me an email, or comment on these posts with questions and I’ll answer them in the next post! ๐
question: are you still liking hellofresh?
Yes! We have been using Hello Fresh for at least a year now and I’d definitely still recommend it if you’re looking to simplify meal planning and/or hate the grocery store. I don’t mind meal planning but I do mind trying to squeeze in a grocery run after a long day of work or when I’m trying to enjoy the weekend. With Pearce and I both working full time it’s been so nice to have three meals planned out and delivered to us each week. They’re actually really tasty! And we’ve learned a lot of cooking techniques and recipes that we wouldn’t have otherwise attempted. I’m sure we’ll be extra thankful for this service once a baby joins the mix. We’ve also started using instacart for our weekly grocery delivery and it’s been a game changer. 2018 is an amazing time to be alive, y’all.

question: where do you shop for baby clothes?
Having a baby girl to shop for is a dream. Little things have always made my heart flutter but there’s something about a little bubble or tiny pair of sandals that makes me tear up. No joke, I’ve cried on multiple occasions when Alba Grace’s clothes have come in the mail. I’ve loved shopping ebay, instagram + facebook resale pages, consignment stores, and online boutiques for classic pieces (usually at a really great price!) A few of my favorite online boutiques are Cecil & Lou, The Beaufort Bonnet Co., and Smocked Auctions. Bagsy is also a great place to purchase gently used classic baby clothes. Oh and let’s not forget about Etsy – so many gems! I’ll have to do a full round up my new favorite Etsy baby boutiques on day soon.
question: what apps do you use to edit your instastories and instagram photos?
If I’m simply brightening a photo, I’ll use the PicTapGo app. For most of my picture editing I use A Color Story – I created a custom filter that I try to use on all of my insta photos to keep things consistent, although it varies sometimes. For insta stories I love using the Canva app and Hype Type if I want to animate something or add music.
question: are you going back to work after the baby’s born?
I am! After a few months of praying and thinking through what to do about childcare & work with Pearce, we decided that going back to work part time would be the best decision for our growing family. I’m excited to return to a job that I love after maternity leave. I’ll be working Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday which will hopefully make for an easy transition. We’re grateful that Pearce’s last day of school is AG’s due date, which means he’ll basically have a full summer to get to know our little lady. He’ll even get her all to himself for a few weeks after I return to work. That makes my mama heart happy!
love y’all, mckenzie
