We packed away the sensory table for the winter but this warmer weather has me ready to bust it back out! Can’t wait to get my hands on the Darling Details Easter-themed sensory boxes! Nothing keeps these girls entertained and intrigued like sensory play outside. Mama likes being outside as well and also likes that the mess is not in my house. We are who we are. Alba Grace started a sensory based art class last year and loves nothing more than the hour she spends there on Monday afternoons! I love that her senses are stimulated and that she learns to be creative and curious. We’ve started more sensory play at home so I thought I’d share a few of our favorite resources!
I hunted for months to find a table I loved and finally found the soldout IKEA FLISAT table on Amazon. Sadly it was twice the price on Amazon (supply and demand y’all) but it’s worth it. Assembly is easy, the design isn’t too overwhelming and there are loads of inserts that can be purchased to fit in the table! While we love our sensory table, we were getting by just fine with a sensory tub (large plastic bin from walmart!) prior to that. Our first sensory bin had a gardening theme with pretedn worms, dirt, beans, and little shovels. Pinterest has loads and loads of ideas! Themed bins are fantastic but water, kitchen tools like measuring cups and old cups can be just as much fun!
Our only sensory bin rules are to keep the supplies INSIDE the bin! I usually set Millie up with something age approproate on her side (cereal & water based bins are great for kids her age that LOVE putting everything in their mouth!) and let AG play on the other side. More and more they’re wanting to play with exactly the same thing so this season I’ll likely duplicate the same activity on both sides.
Darling Details sent over some of her awesome sensory kits for us to enjoy. They are such a hit and take the work of prepping an activity out of it! We’re also big fans of water beads, play dough, kitchen tools + water, rice and measuring cups and kinetic sand are a lot of fun too! Sharing some favorites & some of the inserts I mentioned, below!
