One of the hardest decisions in terms of decor for the new house has hands down been selecting light fixtures. Because we have an open floorplan it sometimes feels like selecting furniture and decor is a giant puzzle. You don’t want anything to be too matchy-matchy but you also have to consider how everything will look together considering the dining room, entryway, living room, and kitchen are all within the same visual field.
My hunt for pendant lights began last year (seriously, it took FOREVER to find what we wanted in our budget) but as soon as I discovered Build.com I knew we’d hit the jackpot. Build had plenty of pretty options in our budget and the website was incredibly easy to navigate. I SO appreciated that! The Build team was such a pleasure to work with, which is the main reason we’ll continue to shop with them for fixtures around the house.
We narrowed our hunt down to these pretty Silver Quoizel Pendants (so classic and would have paired well with our kitchen hardware – kept going back to gold and brasses though because I loved the pop!), the Maxim Pendants (ended up deciding against the exposed bulb – would be perfect in a farm house though!), and the Park Harbor pendants in Antique Brass.
We ended up selecting the Park Harbor pendants in Antique Brass. Pretty brass and gold accents are a theme around our house, I love that they add a little bit of old school charm to our brand new abode. I’m all about details with lots of character. Another reason I selected these pendants was because they were classic and simple without taking up too much visual space. We didn’t want our kitchen and living room to feel cluttered by overwhelming pendant lights. That’s also one of the reasons we only pre-wired for two lights, three felt like way too much. This helped save room in the budget as well, which is always a perk!
We finally got them up after #HurricaneMatthew and couldn’t be happier with the finished look! We also found a chandelier for the dining room that paired really well with the pendants. Pearce hung that one all by himself (after a tutorial from his Brother in Law an a few Youtube videos) proud wifey here!
We’ll be sharing all of our kitchen and dining room details in the next couple of months (we learned so much during the building process!) but I wanted to go ahead and share these gorgeous pendant lights because I know many of my readers are building or remodeling as well.
