My current skincare situation warrants a little discussion because it’s AMAZING. Over the past couple of years my passion for non-toxic skincare and beauty products has grown and so has my appreciation for a solid am and pm beauty routine. While pregnant with AG I found myself in dire need of a “grown up” skincare routine. In addition to being safe and high performing I also needed something simple because I wanted desperately to be able to follow through with the regimen I put in place.
Fast forward a year(ish) and I have a consistent, simple, skincare routine! I’m pretty jazzed to cross that one off of my to-do list! Below is what’s worked for me but I’d love to help you figure out exactly what will work for you! Shoot me an email at mckenziefussell@gmail.com and I’d be happy to help make product suggestions based on your skincare needs.
morning routine
Start With a Clean Face. If I’ve used my resurfacing peel the night before then I make sure to exfoliate first. Then I clean my face! See my pm routine for the products I use. I love spritzing a clean face with this rosewater mist! Smells amazing and is totally refreshing, especially on an early morning!
Hydrate. In the winter months, this serum is awesome for hydration!
Moisturize. I use Beautycounter’s Countermatch Adaptive Moisturze Lotion on my face and neck each morning. * If you’re using the Countermatch collection, you’ll want to apply moisturizer prior to oils. For all other Beautycounter regimens, you can apply oils and THEN moisturize.
Oil up. I’ve been using the Balancing Oil for over a year and recently added the Brightening Oil to my regimen. I apply 3-5 drops directly to my face.
As needed. If I notice acne, I apply this spot treatment. If I notice blackheads/skin impurities I use this charcoal mask as a spot treatment.
nighttime routine
Start With a Clean Face. I alternate between this daily cleanser (makes my skin feel soft) and this one (mostly so I can share with clients what I like about each one!) and then every couple of days I’ll also use this exfoliator. If I’m feeling lazy I’ll use this cleansing balm by One Love Organics as a cleanser. Beautycounter makes a similar balm that many of my clients rave about, however I haven’t tried it our myself yet. This is the most important step in my daily routine. Clean skin is incredibly important if you want to see results. *I have dry skin (especially in the winter!) so lately I’ve only been cleansing once each day, at night.
Eye Cream. For dark circles and fine lines, I love the Countermatch Eye Rescue Cream! This is a new mama’s best friend.
Peel. I apply the Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel every other night. I jokingly refer to this as botox in a bottle. Helps fight dullness and minimizes the appearance of fine lines, dark spots and pores. A couple of pumps go a long way!
Moisturize. I use this night cream religiously! I apply to my face, neck, and chest to revive skin while I sleep.
Lips. If I remember, I’ll apply this Peppermint Lip Conditioner before I hit they hay! Love waking up with smooth, hydrated lips!
*The Countermatch Regimen that I use is ideal for dry/normal skin. For acne prone skin I highly recommend the Countercontrol Regimen. For fine lines and wrinkles, I check out the Rejuvenating Regimen!
Please let me know if you have any questions! I’m a Beautycounter consultant and would love to help you make selections targeted to your specific skincare needs.
