I took the girls to Disney for the day! Solo. That’s right. A solo trip and a two-way roadtrip all in one. Trips like this are always the best mama confidence boost! As wild as they might be at times, doing something new, alone, with both of my children always makes me feel like superwoman! Since this trip we haven’t done another daytrip (although I’m not opposed to it…. I do love sleeping in my own bed!) and I haven’t taken both girl alone but I’m itching to do that again soon! This turned out to be one of my favorite disney days ever! I think my kiddos knew I needed them on their best behavior and they were absolutely awesome!
I didn’t want to attempt MK solo because navigating additional transportation sounded pretty intimidating. We chose to visit Epcot because there’s so much the girls love to do and it’s such an easy park to get around. We arrived around 9am and spent a solid 25 minutes sitting in traffic outside of the gate. Not the best start to the day (there was a run going on, hence the traffic!) but once we made it through it was truly smooth-sailing.
Our day:
10:00ish – Parked and walked into Epcot.
10:30 – Diaper changes, snack break, and pep talk for all! So important to set the expectations early on!
10:40 – Grabbed popcorn and drinks at the first possible kiosk!
10:50 – Spent a solid 15 minutes staring at our favorite pond and getting some wiggles out.
11ish – Nemo ride, exploring the aquarium and playing in our favorite indoor playground!
12:00 – Met Minnie Mouse before entering the World Showcase. Still no hugs in Jan of 2022 but we blew so many sweet kisses!
12:30 – Rode Grand Fiesta Tour with both girls on my lap while trying to keep masks on. Not the easiest but we did it and we had a blast!
12:45 – Grabbed egg rolls in China and let the girls get more wiggles out. A great area for littles to roam!
1:00 – Stopped to see the train in Germany. Also took a potty break here because this companion restroom is easy to navigate.
1:20 – Grabbed sweet treats (and more popcorn!) in France. We also enjoyed a Beauty & the Beast singalong showing!
1:50 – We went to say hi to Mary Poppins and managed to snap the coolest rainbow photo!
2-3 – We spent about an hour playing in a turf covered (fenced in!) area outside of the world showcase. They use this space as a playground during the Flower & Garden festival but sometimes it’s open in the off season.
3:00 – The girls requested another ride on Nemo! I don’t know about y’all but I think this is a super underrated attraction and obviously my girls agree.
3:40 – Time to head home! We grabbed a few souvenirs and loaded up the car. Girls fell asleep as soon as we pulled off property and we were home before bedtime!
Tips:
- Make sure to take a pic of your parking spot. The My Disney Experience app will also keep up with your spot if you have the proper settings turned on!
- Dress the littles in matching outfits so you can spot them easily. We do this anyways but it’s always appreciated at Disney!
- Double the snacks. I handed out snacks left and right because I knew if we had a meltdown, it would be hard to handle solo.
- I wouldn’t recommend a solo trip if it’s your first time at Disney. We go all the time so we know the drill and our girls know the drill. It would be tough for first-timers!
- Attitude is everything. You can’t decide what your day will look like but you can decide how you’ll handle it!
- Screenshot the map of companion restrooms and baby care centers on your phone!
- Stick to mobile food ordering on your phone! Avoiding the lines when it’s time to eat is crucial.
- Speaking of food…. keep the snacks coming! I packed so many and we went through all of them.
- Jan is a great month for your solo trip because the weather is typically perfection!
- Backpack always. I have to have my hands free! My entire backpack packing list printable comes with the disney ebook!
- There are helpers everywhere! Cast members, nice strangers and other moms are quick to jump in and help if you ask!
- Be sure to ask someone to take a photo of your and your littles so you can look back on the day whenever you need to feel like superwoman!
