Thanks to Weezie Towels for sending the fam the absolute sweetest robes! These make amazing gifts!
For those of you following along over here but not on Instagram, hi! We’re having another baby! Our third daughter will be completing our family in January and to answer the above question… I’m over the moon about it!
While of course we’re so grateful for another baby regardless of the gender, I was honestly *relieved* to find out the girls were getting a baby sister. I texted all of my boy mom friends right before we found out and asked them to give a me a pep talk just in case it was a boy. I was nervous to say the least. Boys are so much fun. I nannied for lots of boy families before having my own kids and it was a blast. But I truly feel like I was born to be a girl mom. I did want a little boy so Pearce could get to do the fun mother/daughter stuff I get to do but in a father/son kind of way. There’s something special about that connection. And I of course wanted to experience that mother/son bond for myself because the boy moms talk about how special it is. But truth be told, I knew it was another girl all along! I love the sister bond my girls have and cannot wait to see how adding another to the mix strengthens the relationship.
On a practical note, our home is overflowing with tiny pink things so it’s a relief not to have to purchase all new everything for baby! And my heart really wanted to see one more baby in some of my favorite little outfits. Isn’t it funny how God puts things like that on our heart?
I think I get asked this question so often because it’s normal to feel some gender disappointment if you don’t get to experience both. And for the rest of our lives I’m sure we’ll be approached by strangers asking if we’re going to try for a boy. One day we’ll have three son-in-law’s instead.
We can’t wait to initiate baby sis into the girl gang! It’s kind of surreal moving out of the “having babies” stage and starting to think of what our next season of “raising babies” will look like. It’s bittersweet knowing this is our last baby and that element of surprise will soon be behind us but also so exciting to start dreaming about the future with our three daughters!
