Howdy. Hope y’all had a great week! I caught a nasty little bug yesterday and was down for the count so that’s definitely thrown things off in our house. Thankfully I’m feeling a whole lot better this morning. Resting up for MOVING DAY tomorrow! I can’t believe it’s officially time for us to leave our first home. More on that coming soon, in the meantime, here are five things worth talking about this weekend.

I was recently approached by an amazing brand called Purpose to share their story here on Somethin’ Southern. This is the stuff that brings be joy! What these folks are doing is pretty stinkin’ cool. Purpose exists to provide hope for women rescued from sex trafficking. Every purchase made through Purpose helps make it possible for a woman to live a life of freedom. These pieces are handcrafted, processed, packaged, inventoried, hand-signed and shipped by survivors. The program provides survivors with strength, dignity, independence, and empowerment. Purpose pairs the art of jewelry making with holistic care through their non-profit, International Sanctuary. Through this program, women gain access to the life skills and opportunities they need to become independently successful. I think what the Purpose community is doing is absolutely beautiful. I love seeing the Lord put it on our heart’s to EMPOWER our brother’s and sister’s in Christ. I truly believe that’s how you change the world. Shop the entire Purpose collection, here.

HELP! Calling all shopaholic readers! ๐ I stumbled upon this stunning mudroom by Julie Blanner. Don’t you adore her soft classic style! I’m on the hunt for hooks just like the ones pictured above. Unfortunately those cuties are sold out! Have y’all purchased anything similar lately?

We just finished Parks & Rec and I’m having withdrawals. We started watching Leslie Knope and the gang after finishing Parenthood. Now there’s no show on earth quite like Parenthood but Parks & Rec was a hilarious shift from the emotional rollercoaster we had been on for months. Now I’m not quite sure what’s next on our list? We may just take a little break and read some good ole’ fashioned paper books. I totally recommend Parks & Rec (you have to get through the first few episodes before you understand the characters, and then things get REALLY funny!) and Parenthood if you’re looking for a new show to binge.

Labor day weekend sales have started! I snatched up these pretty counter stools I’ve been eyeing for over a year. I’ve been anxiously waiting for them to go on sale! They’re 25% off right now at Ballard if you’re buying three or more. Ballard has one heck of a sale going on this weekend. Ps. If you live near a store I recommend having bigger purchases shipped directly to the store. Shipping to the store is free so you end up saving quite a bit. What labor day sales are y’all hitting up?

My heart is breaking for those in the Houston area. The video footage and stories we’re seeing all over social media are just devastating. But through the devastation it’s been pretty amazing to see our country come together and support neighbors in need. One of my favorite bloggers, Caroline Knapp of House of Harper actually lives in Houston so she’s put together a list of ways to help Texas flooding victims and a list of items you can shop to support hurricane harvey victims. There are so many ways to help! I’ve decided to donate directly to families affected by the storm through individual GoFundMe pages. Please consider making a donation to bring a little hope to those who have been displaced.
love y’all, mckenzie
