Pearce and I fell in love with Asheville a few years ago after some of our best friends made the move to the mountains! We were hooked from our very first trip to visit them. There’s just something about that mountain air! Asheville is such a cool city with amazing restaurants, an endless amount of shopping, and dozens of amazing sights to see! Our most recent trip to Asheville coincided with our Hurricane Irma evacuation and I never got around to sharing how much fun we had. If you’re fortunate enough to visit, I have a few recommendations for you.
hike a mountain
There’s something so refreshing about putting on your running shoes and hiking up to an amazing view. These photos were taken on Black Mountain. It’s absolutely stunning up there! I had lots of questions about how to get to the plane crash site, I’m not the best with directions, so to avoid getting y’all lost in the woods, I’ll point you to this article.
visit breweries
After a full day of mountain adventures – treat yourself to a tasty craft beer at one of Asheville’s many breweries. Sierra Nevada is our absolute favorite! There’s really no place like it. Live music amphitheater, tons of land, parks, and gardens for kiddos to explore and yummy food. Did I mention it’s beautiful?! Can’t wait to visit again.
spend a day at the grove park inn
If you’ve been following along for awhile you know how much I adore the GPI. Stay for the night or stop by and enjoy the gorgeous views, fantastic restaurants, and warm fires (they’re everywhere!) It’s one of the most romantic places we’ve ever been!
chow down on some bbq
You haven’t had bbq until you’ve had Carolina bbq. This stuff is good y’all! And addicting. I could eat NC bbq for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Let this list serve as your bbq bible.
take a day trip
Not only is Asheville an awesome city to visit, but it’s a great “home base” for exploring NC. Take a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway, spend a day in adorable Waynesville, or check out the elk in Cataloochee. There’s so much to take in!
love y’all, mckenzie
