my dress, alba grace’s dress, millie’s bubble
It was just over an hour from our last home so we’ve been to Jekyll Island too many times to count. We spent part of our honeymoon there, babymooned there on Christmas before AG was born, celebrated anniversaries and Mother’s Day there, and thrown in dozens of day trips and sweet vacations in between. After having visited so many times, we’re still charmed each time we pull up to the oak-lined property. It’s jaw-droppingly beautiful. An absolute hidden gem in South GA! If you love history, nature, and good old-fashioned southern charm, you’ve got to add a trip to the Jekyll Island Club to your travel list!
we get questions about our stroller everytime we share it so here’s the link to that! we love love love it!
I’ve shared many times about how much we loved visiting the island before we had kids, so I wanted to share details on our most recent trip with two little girls in tow! 🙂 Traveling with kids is without a doubt chaotic but it’s also WONDERFUL and we’re thankful we can give our kids experiences like this one, even if we lose our sanity somewhere along the way! 😉
Jekyll Island is really a great family destination because it’s so EASY! Everything is easily accessible and kids can run around exploring nature without the hustle and bustle you find at most modern resorts.
*I will say that walking around the main club with a stroller can be a bit of a challenge at first because you’ll need to use the wheelchair ramp at the main entrance to access certain areas, but once you get the hang of that it’s smooth sailing!
We checked into the resort, changed in our room (see also: girls jumped on the beds) and we walked over to The Wharf for a yummy dinner and live music! You cannot beat the views and yummy cocktails over at the Wharf! We literally danced the night away and before we knew it, it was time for bed!
Bless the kind mama that stopped to take a picture of us and tried her hardest to get both girls smiling! 🙂

On day two Pearce played a round of golf at the Jekyll Island Golf Club while the girls and I visited the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. He sent us so many fun pics of the course and the deer he saw while he was playing! Regretting not joining him for a few minutes of driving the golf cart! 😉
We really enjoyed checking out the turtles at the Sea Turtle Center and even brought a couple of (stuffed) turtles home with us! If you have kids 0-18 there’s really something for everyone to enjoy from interactive games to on-site experiences with turtle pros!
Millie was so close to taking her first steps on this trip I always had my camera out ready to capture the magic! 🙂 Didn’t happen on the croquet lawn like I had hoped it would but we came close!
The girls and I had lunch at the Pantry (because we don’t turn down grilled cheese sandwiches and fresh chicken salad!) then went back to our room for a quick nap! After golf Pearce met us for an amazing trolley tour of the historic district! We didn’t realize it was a one hour tour when we signed up so when the driver announced that we’d be together that long we were a bit nervous but the girls ended up doing great and we learned so much about the club, it’s original visitors and the historic homes around the property.
A few years ago the Jekyll Island Club resort opened a beachfront location on the other side of the island. After playing in the sand we had dinner at Eighty Ocean Kitchen & Bar for the first time. Our Lasagna did NOT disappoint! The new resort is beautiful and perfect for visitors that want a more modern experience within steps of the ocean. After dinner we took the girls for a “night swim” which I will always remember being the MOST FUN as a kid!
Ps. On Wednesdays, in the summer the resort had a MERMAID (yes, you read that right!) swimming around the pool! So sad we missed that!
The last day of our stay involved poolside breakfast (with treats from the Pantry!) and a gorgeous bike ride all around the island! This was our first time biking with the babies but we had such a wonderful time that we’ve decided to buy bikes of our own.
We truly had the most amazing, relaxing, and inspiring trip, and can’t wait for our next stay at the Jekyll Island Club! 🙂
Thanks so much to the Jekyll Island Club for hosting us!
