In the months leading up to our closing date I spent many a long night scrolling through Pinterest in search of art that wouldn’t blow our budget. As luck would have it, I ended up finding a REALLY expensive set of framed ginger jar prints that I couldn’t get over. If you know me personally, you know that I can’t walk past a ginger jar without stopping to admire. A ginger jar gallery-esque display seemed like the perfect fit. BUT the budget won the battle and I found something else to fill the space in our dining room. After a few months I just couldn’t click with the piece we had on the wall and so… the search for an affordable dupe to my ginger jar prints began. I turned to my beloved Etsy and found a set of blue and white ginger jar prints for SIXTEEN dollars. Yes, you read that right. I was on cloud nine. But here’s where the DIY part comes in… these were not framed prints. So my next task was to have them printed (you pay to download the art and then print it yourself or have a local professional take care of it) and find frames as pretty as the set I had my eye on. My luck started changing and I found these pretty frames at Target! Go, Target! They almost always let me down in the frame department so I was so excited to find these! The adventure continues as I find out one of the four frames our local Target has left in stock was dropped on the floor (see also: shattered into a million pieces) and there was only ONE additional frame within 200 miles of us. This was scary because at the time these bad boys weren’t sold online so I thought I’d have to go back to the drawing board again. LUCKILY Pearce snatched the treasured frame up on his way home from work that day and all was well in the Fussell house!
If you’d like to recreate the look – here’s what you’ll need! Four of these frames (matted to fit an 8×10 print/photo) and this set of art prints! Print at home on your favorite cardstock or drop off at your local printer. Either way, this project is easy as pie and about $799 cheaper than the alternative, haha! 😉
