Since adding another little person to the family, having a stash of toddler-friendly activities is CRUCIAL for survival. If I’m feeding Millie or trying to quickly finish a chore – it’s so nice to have a “new” activity to get AG set up with to keep her busy for a few minutes. I purchased these small boxes from Target to serve as “busy boxes” that I’ll change out every so often when our current boxes start to feel stale. This gives me SEVEN ready-to-go activities that I can pull out in a pinch!
In case you need some toddler-friendly activity ideas, here’s what’s in our boxes right now!
LARGE LEGOS
Lego’s are great for dexterity practice! I like the simple blocks right now so that she can use her imagination when she builds, instead of trying to create something specific. These are perfect for little hands!
STICKERS & POST-IT’S
I put together a big box of random stickers and dollar store post-it’s of varied sizes. She loves sticking these on index cards, construction paper and shape cut-outs.
COOKIE SHEET + MAGNETS
This is one I’ll keep in the rotation – just switching up the magnets. She has a ton of fun rearranging these!
STACKING CUPS
Perfect for a makeshift tea party, stacking or flipping!
BOX OF PIPE CLEANERS
What is it with kids and pipe cleaners?! Love the open ended creativty these promote as well as the opportunity for sensory play. She can make anything she wants to, line them up, sort by color, build a tower, etc.
CUTTING SCRAPS
This is a box of scrap paper and plastic. This one requires supervision but it’s definitely a hit and a fantastic exercise for those fine motor skills!
MAGNETIC DRESS UP
Magnetic dress-up dolls are a ton of fun. AG loves swapping out the outfits and accessories!
