Pearce climbed up into the attic to pull down our fall decor a few weeks ago (bless him) but once we took a look at the contents of the box we decided to close it up and try again next year. We just weren’t feeling the orange!!! Don’t get me wrong, I love a classic pumpkin and my candy corn garland served us well, but this year we wanted to take the fall decor in a slightly different direction.
I scoured the web for blue and white pumpkins that I loved and couldn’t find anything that wasn’t $$$$$$ so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I scooped up a few inexpensive foam pumpkins from walmart. I tried hobby lobby first but they we’re waaaaay overpriced! Walmart didn’t have the white pumpkins I was hoping for so I went ahead and bought the orange, thinking a quick coat of spray paint would fix them right up! I later discovered inexpensive white pumpkins available on Target.com here, here and here that would have saved me the spray painting step!
Walmart’s Color Place spray paint is my $0.99 go-to! One bottle covered all four of my pumpkins!
Once the pumpkins dried, I used inspiration pics from plates and jars around the house to sketch a design in pencil. I think the key here is to stick to 1 or 2 blues. I started with lighter blues and worked my way up to the darker as an outline.
I’m *obviously* not an artist but I’m so happy with how these turned out and they were SO easy to do! These make me so happy every time I walk by them! ๐
I’m going to spray a coat of lacquer on top if I can find the can in the garage! That way they’ll shine a bit and hopefully keep well in the attic so that we can reuse next year.

Happy Fall y’all! ๐
