You’ll probably hear me say this over and over again (or at least I hope that’ll be the case!) but 5 months has been my favorite age yet! I feel like we’re past many of the stressors (sleep training, switching to formula, finding a childcare setup that worked for us) that make the first year so tough! We’re more relaxed as parents now which makes this wild ride SO MUCH EASIER and more enjoyable. So to all of you expecting mama’s out there, please take this one bit of wisdom away from today’s post: relax. Easier said than done, I know, I know. But seriously…God’s got this. He’s given you everything you need to parent your child well.
We’re starting to see our little girl come to life! She’s funny, giggly, squirmy, and as sweet as can be. Sure, I miss those snuggly newborn days but I love that we can really play together now! Turns out, little miss is pretty good company! Hard to imagine life without her here.
milestones & changes:
I swear she looks like a toddler now. And also JUST like her father.
AG had her first day with a non-family babysitter. She did great. The report: she didn’t cry a bit. Mama was hoping for a little goodbye tear (jokes) but it turns out she didn’t miss us a lick. That child has never met a stranger!
She’s officially rolling over, all the way. I can’t remember when exactly this happened (4 or 5 months???) but we’re recording it here for safe keeping.
We tried food! Rice cereal was not a hit and after re-reading Bringing up Bebe (my go-to parenting book because I want to be a cool french mama bear) Pearce and I decided to skip the bland rice cereal and jump right into the good stuff. Green peas. Green peas did not go over well. But we will attempt again.
I left my baby overnight. I went on a quick overnight work trip and AG stayed home with her daddio. It was difficult to leave her but honestly not as hard as I thought it would be. Pearce is the best dad ever so I knew she was having the time of her life! I was however, so ready to get home and cuddle her socks off. Update: I’m doing it again in a couple of weeks.
AG can now stick both feet in her mouth. Very impressive.
Cute thing to note: anytime she sees herself in a mirror she smiles. I love it!
Girlfriend can hold her own bottle. Even the big ones. This has been LIFE CHANGING for my productivity levels.
things I’m looking forward to
Taking AG to disney this weekend. I haven’t told y’all this one yet because I knew you’d judge me lol. I’m going on a family girl’s trip to disney (same one we did last year) so of course we’re bringing her along this year! I’m most excited about her watching the parade!
Thanksgiving and Christmas with a baby! This time last year we were gearing up to announce that I was pregnant. This year our little girl is here to enjoy all of the magic!
AG sitting up on her own. I feel like we’re close! I’m so excited about this big milestone because I feel like there are so many fun toys she’ll be able to play with!
hardest moment
Leaving her overnight and missing bedtime!
favorite moment
Dressing her up for halloween FOR SURE! She made the cutest cabbage patch kid!
products we’re loving
Our new formula has been so good for her! *We tried the regular kind first but the gentle version is a lot easier on her tummy.
Bonnets. I love her bows but there’s just something about a bonnet that makes me swoon! All of her bonnets are from TBBC! The very best quality. We’ll be able to use for our next baby girl if we have one.
Bumbo tray. I got lots of questions about this! Easily attaches to the bumbo chair to turn it into a high chair for meal time. The bumbo is a must-have!
I love that y’all love following along with these baby updates! They’re getting harder to write now that she’s older and I’m mixing up milestones and stats (goodness, I need to bust out the baby book before I forget everything!) but I know I’ll love looking back on these one day!
love y’all, mckenzie
