Onion frites, twinkle lights, and the best french food on the island. The ingredients for date night perfection! A couple of weeks ago Pearce surprised me with an impromptu date night out on the town. After a few particularly busy weeks this was exactly what we needed. P selected a local favorite, Le Clos. 99% of his decision was reflective of the onion frites (pictured below, #droolworthy) and the rest of his decision was based on the romantic aesthetic, killer cuisine, and cutesy location. A 10/10 in my book. I’m constantly asked for Amelia Island recs and Le Clos is always on my list when chatting with readers.
We started off with a bottle of Justin Sauvignon Blanc to enjoy with our appetizer. Will definitely be back for that one! Crisp, refreshing, and perfect with every course. For our entrees, Pearce (as always, thankfully his mama taught him how to share!) ordered the tastiest dish out of the two. I can’t say enough about the Grouper! Light parmesan herb crust draped with citrus beurre blanc served with pom gratin and julliened veggies. I elected for the pan seared Hudson Valley duck finished with a macado sauce. It was delicious! Now let’s talk about dessert. Y’all, dessert is where it’s at. As soon as we bit into the Gateau Au Chocolat with creme anglaise we were in heaven. Paired with a Tawny Port this made for a sweet ending to a perfect night.
If you’re ever in town be sure to stop by Le Clos. You’re in for a treat!
